These are some pictures I took after the snow stopped. It started snowing about 4:00 a.m. yesterday and didn't stop until about 3:00 p.m. today. All total I think we got about 2 feet of snow, and we are expecting more tomorrow.
This morning I had to get up and go to work or I would loose my holiday pay for Christmas. I also had to make it there on time or I would loose it as well. Anyway I got up about 15 minutes earlier than I would normally and got dressed. Then I went out to start the car and clean off the windows. I usually start the car in the morning to let it warm up anyway, but I kind of thought I might get stuck trying to get to work. Then I went back into the house and did my hair.
When I went out to try to get out of our driveway sure enough I got stuck. I had to put my floor mats in front of the front tires to get back into the driveway to try it again. After about 15-20 min. I was finally on my way to work. I got to work with 5 min. to spare. Just enough time to through on a lab coat and change shoes, but I made it on time and safely. Matt also had a hard time getting home from work this morning. He got stuck in a couple of places. I will try to get some better pictures tomorrow when it is light out.
Oh yeah, the school district we live in canceled school today as well.

Snow Storm Dec. 20 & 21

Provo Tabernacle

Fri. Morning the Provo tabernacle caught on fire and was destroyed. I remember going to a fireside there given by Truman G Madsen about Joseph Smith. They don't know yet what caused the fire. Everything was destroyed except a picture of Christ. The Portrait was burned except for the very center where Christ stood. We will definately miss this beautiful building.

Lizards in our camp

There were lizards everywhere in our camp and Matt really wanted to catch some. Well he ended up catching one, and when he did it bit him on the finger. It didn't break the skin though. He was having a great time with them. He also caught a quite large grasshopper and tied it to the end of my fishing pole and played around with a couple of them.

Arches National Park

Saturday Aug.7,2010 we woke up after having a good nights sleep in a motel in green river. Green River is the city that produces Green River Watermelons. Anyway, we went to breakfast and got on our way to Arches National Park. I think it was about 11/2 hours from Green River. The Park was beautiful. The first arch we went to see was Delicate Arch. It is the most famouse of the Arches in the park. In fact it is the Arch on the centenial licence plate. You have to take a hike that is about 3 miles round trip. Over half of the hike is on slick rock. While on this hike Matt and I found some quartze rock. Matt made it about a half mile and had to stop. He wasn't feeling very well, but I made it all the way up.


The first part of the hike you walk by a small settlement started by the Wolfe family in the 1800's, there are two small homes and a horse padock. I only got a video of one of the homes and the padock.
A little further up the trail were some more pictoglyphs.

Then We went a little further up the road to skyline arch. The hole in this arch used to be much smaller, but a few years ago a big boulder fell out of it and made it larger.
After this we drove to Devils garden and had lunch, then we decided to go into Moab to look around, and then find a camping spot for the night. Just as we found our spot it started to rain. It rained for about 2-3 hours then stopped. Then about 11:00p.m. it started raining again. I ended up getting a dizzy spell this night, but thankfully I had my meds with me. By the time morning came it had stopped raining and the sky was a beautiful blue. I got up, and was still dizzy, but I was determined that we were going to go back into the park for a while. We were camped next to the Colorado River and Matt wanted to do some fishing. We got camp cleaned up and he went fishing for 20 min. He caught some golden cat fish so I decided I wanted to catch some.

Goblin Valley State Park

After going to Capitol Reef we went to Goblin Valley State Park. It was about a 1-2 hour drive from Capitol Reef. This is a place Matt has taken his scouts a lot. The Rocks have been made into forms that look like Goblins by the wind, rain, and ice. Matt and his scouts have had fun many a time playing capture the flag here at night. While there we looked to the west and dark clouds started to roll in. We saw lightening and heard thunder. Just as we were getting to the car it started sprinkeling. We had a lot of fun climbing around in the different formations. Some of them looked like turtles. Matt pretended to hold up a bunch of the goblins. As we drove into the Valley of the goblins there were three of them that looked like they were gaurding the area.

After visiting Goblin Valley we decided we would get a motel room in Green River because we knew we were going to get rained on. So we drove the 45 min to green river and found a cheap motel.

Capitol Reef National Park

On Thursday August 5,2010 after work Matt and I left to go camping. We didn't get to where we were planning to camp that night so we stopped at a rest stop and slept. Then in the morning we woke up and proceeded to drive to Capitol Reef National Park. This Park has a lot of rock and mountain features, and it is also home to an old Mormon settlement called fruita. There was a little museum and store where they sold homemade pies, bread, ice cream, and such. We bought a blackberry pie from the store. On the way out of town there was a spot that had pictoglyphs carved into the wall of the mountain by old inhabitants that lived in the area(indians). We got some video.
