Jam Making

Last week we got a good deal on Raspberries at Reams. We bought three flats of raspberries so we decided we would make jam. Originally we were going to make the jam fri., but we ended up leaving it until Sat. So while Matt was at Priesthood session I started to make the jam. We ended up making 29 pints and two quarts of jam. The majority of the jam was just plain Raspberry, then Matt went and got some strawberries from Reams so we made about nine of the 29 pints with both Raspberries and strawberries, and then the 2 quarts and one pint was made with peaches strawberries and raspberries. We decided that we were going to put aside about $50 a month to build up our food storage so this month is done.

That jam looks so good. I love homemade jam. We have a freezer full of it and our kids really don't like store bought jam anymore! That is great that you are working to build up your food storage.

What a great project to be doing while your husband is at conference. I know I always enjoy it when my wife cans for our family. It is a great way to save money. Smuckers has nothing on home canning!
