Drive up into the high Uinta's

Today Matt and I decided we were going to go for a drive, and Matt wanted to go look at some places up past Kamas, Utah because that is where he is taking the boys for their scout camp this month. Anyway, before we left I was watching the news and it was saying that Little Cottonwood Creek was flooding, and that some parts of Murray were flooding because of all the snow we got in May, and then yesterday it was so hot that a lot of that snow was melting and causing the rivers to rise.
I asked Matt if we were going to run into any flooding where we were going and he said no, so we were off. Well the closer we got to Kamas the higher and faster Provo river got. We missed the turn to go up into the Uinta's so we drove for a while more. When we got to oakley there were people out in front of there homes laying sandbags to keep the water out. We got to another resevior and saw the river just flowing into it like a steam engine. We turned around and went back to Kamas and found the right turn.
As we drove up the mountain the river was getting wider and deeper and faster. Finally we got to the Provo River Falls and got out to take some pictures. Matt was amazed at how much water was coming off of the falls. He said he had never seen them so full; ussually it is just a small stream. Here is a picture of what we saw.
Then we also stopped to take a picture at slate canyon just down from the Provo River Falls nand here is that picture.

The picture of the river is pretty impressive. I hope the flooding doesn't cause any damage.

Very pretty pictures. thanks for posting them for us to see. I'm glad you could go to grandma and grandpa's graves on memorial day as well.
